Kyrgyzstan generates most of its electricity from hydropower, and hydropower is seasonal. The practical consequence for anyone running infrastructure is not a vague unreliability but a predictable period each year during which supply is constrained and interruptions are more frequent. That predictability is useful, because it means the hardware consequences can be prepared for rather than absorbed.

Cycles, not hours, are what wear out

A steady supply at an imperfect voltage is comparatively easy on equipment. What damages it is the transition: mains lost, load transferred to battery, supply restored, and around again. The controller battery is the one that matters most

It is also the one nobody checks. Its job is to preserve data held in the controller's write cache when power disappears, so it is entirely invisible while power is present. A depleted controller battery gives no operational symptom at all — it simply fails to do its job during the precise event it exists for, and the result is data loss rather than an outage. On an estate facing a season of interruptions it is the single highest-value item to have spare.
