NetApp Third Party Maintenance
Save 40-60% vs NetApp SupportEdge. Full coverage for NetApp FAS, AFF, E-Series, and StorageGRID.
Storage maintenance is high-stakes. A failed controller or disk shelf does not just affect one application — it can take down an entire environment. ICD understands this. Our NetApp maintenance program includes advance replacement parts, 24×7 coverage options, and engineers who know the difference between a FAS8200 and an AFF A400.

ICD vs NetApp SupportEdge
NetApp SupportEdge pricing for aging FAS systems can exceed $20,000-50,000 per year for a single HA pair. That same system under ICD maintenance costs a fraction of that amount, with the same hardware coverage and response times.
End-of-Life & End-of-Service-Life Coverage
NetApp publishes end-of-availability (EOA) and end-of-support (EOS) dates for all storage platforms. Once EOS arrives, SupportEdge is no longer renewable. ICD continues providing full hardware maintenance.

Your FAS8200 HA pair still delivers the performance your workloads need. ICD keeps it running without the $40,000 SupportEdge renewal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does switching to ICD affect my ONTAP software licenses?
No. ONTAP licenses are perpetual and tied to the controller serial number, not to a SupportEdge contract. Your existing ONTAP features (SnapMirror, SnapVault, FlexClone, etc.) continue to function. You lose access to new ONTAP version downloads through NetApp’s support portal, but your current running version remains fully operational.
Can ICD replace a failed controller in a NetApp HA pair?
Yes. ICD maintains replacement controller modules for FAS, AFF, and E-Series systems. For Gold and Platinum customers, advance replacement controllers are pre-positioned for rapid swap. Our engineers handle the physical replacement; the HA failover and giveback process is managed by ONTAP automatically.
What about AutoSupport? Will it still work without NetApp SupportEdge?
AutoSupport is a feature of ONTAP, not a SupportEdge-dependent service. Your system will continue generating AutoSupport messages. Without an active SupportEdge contract, NetApp will not act on those messages. Under ICD Platinum, we can integrate with your AutoSupport outputs to provide proactive monitoring and alerting.
Does ICD stock NetApp disk shelves?
Yes. ICD maintains inventory of DS212C, DS224C, DS460C, DS4243, DS4246, and NS224 disk shelves, along with individual disk modules (SAS, NL-SAS, SSD) in common capacities. Shelf-level components like IOM modules, SAS cables, and power supplies are also stocked.
Can I keep NetApp SupportEdge on my production cluster and use ICD on DR?
Absolutely. Many organizations maintain OEM support on their primary production storage while placing disaster recovery, secondary, and archive systems under ICD maintenance. This hybrid approach maximizes savings on the systems where OEM support provides the least additional value.
