Cisco UCS Third Party Maintenance
Save 40-60% vs Cisco SmartNet. Full coverage for Cisco UCS B-Series blades and C-Series rack servers.
Cisco UCS occupies a unique position in the data center — tightly integrated with Cisco networking and unified fabric. ICD engineers understand UCS Manager, CIMC, and the relationship between compute, fabric interconnects, and I/O modules. We do not just swap parts — we understand the platform.

ICD vs Cisco SmartNet
Cisco SmartNet bundles software entitlements, TAC access, and hardware maintenance into a single contract. If you only need hardware maintenance, you are paying for services you do not use. ICD provides pure hardware maintenance at a price that reflects the actual service delivered.
End-of-Life & End-of-Service-Life Coverage
Cisco publishes detailed End-of-Life bulletins for every UCS product with specific dates. When those dates pass, SmartNet is no longer available. ICD continues.
EOSL since 2020-2021. ICD covers them.
EOSL since January 2024. ICD covers them.
EOSL approaching November 2026-April 2027. ICD covers them now and after.
Older models EOSL. ICD covers them.
Cisco M5 servers represent one of the largest installed bases in the UCS portfolio. With EOSL approaching in late 2026, organizations need a maintenance alternative now. ICD is ready.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does switching to ICD affect my Cisco software licenses?
No. Cisco software licenses (UCS Manager, Intersight, NX-OS on Fabric Interconnects) are separate from hardware maintenance. Your existing perpetual licenses continue to function. Subscription licenses follow their own renewal cycle independent of SmartNet status.
Can ICD support my Fabric Interconnects, not just the servers?
Yes. ICD covers Cisco Fabric Interconnects (6248UP, 6296UP, 6332, 6454, 6536), UCS 5108 chassis, X9508 chassis, and all I/O modules. We maintain the complete UCS infrastructure stack at the hardware level.
My UCS M5 servers go EOSL in late 2026. When should I switch to ICD?
Now. Contact ICD 90-120 days before your SmartNet renewal to get a quote and plan the transition. Waiting until after EOSL means a potential coverage gap. We recommend overlapping the transition to ensure zero downtime in maintenance coverage.
Does ICD support Cisco HyperFlex (HCI) systems?
ICD covers the hardware layer of HyperFlex systems — the physical C-Series or X-Series nodes, drives, memory, and networking components. HyperFlex software (HX Data Platform) is managed through Cisco. Our maintenance covers the metal, not the software-defined layer.
Can ICD provide Cisco TAC-equivalent support?
ICD provides hardware troubleshooting and break-fix support equivalent to SmartNet hardware service. For software issues, Cisco TAC access requires a separate Cisco service contract or Intersight subscription. ICD focuses on what matters for hardware maintenance: fast parts, skilled engineers, and reliable response times.
