Server Parts for Albania

Consolidation delivers efficiency and concentration together

Bringing several separate systems onto one well-specified platform is usually the right decision. It is cheaper to run, easier to secure, and simpler to operate, and a great many Albanian organisations have done exactly that over the past decade. It also quietly removes something that was previously there for free: somewhere else for the work to run.

Redundancy buys time; it does not finish the job

The standard answer to concentration risk is redundancy inside the platform, and it is a good answer as far as it goes. A failed power supply, a failed drive, a failed path — the design absorbs each of those and the service continues. What redundancy does not do is produce the replacement. It converts an immediate outage into a period of running unprotected, and the length of that period is set entirely by how quickly the correct part can be obtained. If it cannot be obtained, redundancy has bought time that nothing uses.

Which makes the held spare the thing that closes the design

The components worth holding are precisely the ones the redundancy depends on: the second power supply, the array controller and its battery, drives for the protected volumes, and the optics on active paths. Each is inexpensive, and each is the difference between a design that survives a failure on paper and one that survives it in practice. On a consolidated platform this is not a refinement; it is the part of the architecture that was left unfinished.

What ICD supplies

Components across Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Cisco and IBM with depth in generations past OEM end of support, which is where consolidated platforms arrive while still carrying every workload that was moved onto them. Each part is checked against the configuration it will replace before it ships, and carries one to three years of warranty.

Supporting a platform with no second copy

Where there is no alternative platform to move work to, the repair has to succeed on the first attempt, which makes identifying the part correctly worth more than saving anything on it. We verify the build from the serial before quoting and ship from our Cairo warehouse by express courier, with the expected window confirmed per consignment.
