Poland’s Data-Center Market
Warsaw (Warszawa) is Poland’s data-center capital, hosting 31+ facilities operating at roughly 86% average occupancy. The market is anchored by Atman — the dominant domestic operator running its WAW-1, WAW-2 and WAW-3 campus (14.4 MW IT power on the first phase of WAW-3, with the full three-building campus targeting 43 MW at completion) — alongside Equinix (WA1, WA2, WA3, and the xScale WA4x), Beyond.pl, Data4, Netia, Orange Business Services, T-Mobile, Vantage Data Centers, Polcom and 3S Group, with new entrants including Greykite, Switch Datacenters and 1911 Data Centers arriving through 2030. Poland’s data-center market was valued at USD 1.28 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 3.15 billion by 2031 at a CAGR of approximately 16%, with Microsoft committing approximately USD 700 million (PLN 2.8 billion / €670 million) in February 2025 for cloud and AI expansion through mid-2026. The wider Polish ICT market — USD 31.59 billion in 2025, projected to reach USD 56.01 billion by 2031 at a 10.02% CAGR — is among the fastest-growing in Europe.
Import & Compliance
Poland is an EU member state; the national telecom and postal regulator, the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE — Urząd Komunikacji Elektronicznej), supervises EMC compliance and enforces the EU Radio Equipment Directive for networked IT hardware, with no separate national type-approval beyond CE/EU marking. Customs clearance is handled by the National Revenue Administration (Krajowa Administracja Skarbowa, KAS). Under the WTO Information Technology Agreement, servers and ADP machines (HS 8471) and their parts and accessories (HS 8473) carry 0% import duty. VAT is the 23% standard rate applied to CIF value at import and is fully reclaimable by VAT-registered Polish importers via postponed VAT accounting; an EORI number is required for clearance, and CE marking with EU EMC compliance applies to all hardware. Standard enterprise memory, drives, RAID, PSU, CPU (Xeon/EPYC) and NIC components face no restrictions for direct Poland sales. Buyers should confirm current sanctions, export-control eligibility, and exact duties and taxes with a licensed customs broker before each shipment. Note: since 26 February 2025, Polish anti-circumvention law requires exporters to declare that goods will not transit or be re-exported to Russia or Belarus, with proof of final-destination customs clearance within 45 days of leaving EU territory — relevant where Polish customers re-export.
Logistics
DHL operates across Poland with Express, Supply Chain, Global Forwarding and Freight divisions, including a major International Logistics Center opened in Robakowo near Poznań in March 2024, and a dedicated Technology Logistics offering for servers, storage and network equipment; Aramex maintains a Poland service presence. The main air gateway for technology imports is Warsaw Frédéric Chopin Airport (WAW), with secondary cargo at Katowice-Pyrzowice (KTW) and Gdańsk (GDN), and the Port of Gdańsk — the Baltic’s largest container terminal, handling approximately 2.2 million TEU in 2024 — serving sea freight.
Who We Serve
ICD supports Poland’s most demanding infrastructure operators. Banking and BFSI lead demand: Poland is Central-Eastern Europe’s largest FinTech market, with global banks (Citi, Goldman Sachs, UBS, BNY Mellon) and domestic institutions (PKO BP, ING Bank Śląski, mBank) modernizing core systems. Telecom operators Orange Polska, T-Mobile, Play and Plus/Polkomtel are building out 5G networks. Government digitization is funded by EU programs — Poland unlocked approximately USD 149 billion in reconstruction and cohesion funds in 2024, with roughly 21.3% (~USD 31.8 billion) earmarked for digital transformation and ~USD 63 million per year for a dedicated Cybersecurity Fund. Defense procurement is strong, with Poland leading NATO allies in defense spending as a share of GDP in 2025 (~EUR 38 billion) and significant NATO infrastructure in Bydgoszcz. The data-center sector is expanding at a CAGR of approximately 16% through 2031, driven by hyperscaler investment, enterprise cloud adoption, and AI workloads. ICD serves the operators, resellers, and maintenance teams keeping this infrastructure running.
