Server Parts for Croatia

Some systems are kept powered for one reason only: something may still need to be read from them. ICD keeps those systems able to start.

The system that is kept for reading, not for running

In most estates of any age there is at least one platform that does no real work. It was superseded years ago, nothing new is written to it, and nobody would call it production. It stays powered because the records inside it may still have to be produced — for an audit, a claim, a regulator or a dispute — and because nothing else can read them.

Copying the data off is usually not an option

The obvious solution is to extract everything and decommission the hardware. It rarely works, because the records are not really in the files; they are in the application that wrote them, and a copy of the underlying data without that application is frequently unreadable in any way that would satisfy the person asking. So the platform stays, in a category of its own: no load, no development, no roadmap, and an obligation attached.

One failure mode, and it is absolute

A system under no load has very few ways to fail, which makes it easy to ignore, but it has one that matters completely: it may not start. Everything else is survivable on a platform doing nothing. The components that cause that outcome are a short list — the power supply, the array controller and its battery, and the drives holding the data — and they are the only ones for which a parts path genuinely needs to exist.

What ICD holds for it

Components for exactly these generations across Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Cisco and IBM, well past OEM end of support, matched to the installed build from the serial, tested before dispatch, serial-verified, and carrying one to three years of warranty. The useful thing for a retained system is knowing the path exists before it is needed, since the moment it is needed is the moment somebody is asking for the records.

Keeping a read-only platform able to start

A system retained purely to remain readable needs very little, but it needs that little to exist: a path to the two or three components whose failure would prevent it from starting at all. We confirm what is obtainable before you need it, and ship from our Cairo warehouse by express courier with the expected window confirmed per consignment.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about ordering server parts for delivery to Croatia.

Yes. Tested parts dispatch from our Cairo warehouse by express courier, including for platforms old enough that the vendor no longer lists them at all.
It needs fewer than a production system, but not none. A platform retained to remain readable has one failure mode that matters absolutely — being unable to start — and the small number of components that cause it are worth a parts path even though the system does almost no work.
The ones without which nothing boots: the power supply, the array controller and its battery, and the drives holding the data itself. A failure anywhere else is usually survivable on a system under no load. A failure in those three is the difference between an archive and a lost archive.
Frequently the data is readable only by the application that wrote it, so a copy of the files is not a copy of the records. That is exactly why these platforms stay powered rather than being decommissioned, and it is why the hardware question does not go away when the workload does.
Yes. Systems retained for retention purposes are usually well past OEM end of support, which is the part of the market we hold stock for.
