Utilisation changes the failure profile

Armenia has built a research and engineering sector that runs genuine computational workloads rather than transaction processing, and the infrastructure underneath it is used differently from a general-purpose enterprise estate. Machines are held at or near full utilisation for extended periods by design. That is the point of them, and it invalidates most of the reliability intuition that enterprise hardware is described with.

The published figures assume idle time

A typical enterprise server spends the overwhelming majority of its life well below capacity, and the failure rates quoted for it reflect that duty cycle. Remove the idle time and the stress on the power and cooling path stops being intermittent and becomes permanent. Components that would comfortably outlast the machine in a general-purpose role instead reach their limits years earlier, and they do so predictably rather than randomly.

The chassis outlives its consumables

What does not change is the rest of the machine. The board, the chassis and the processors typically remain fully serviceable while the power supplies, fans and thermal interfaces around them are consumed. This is why replacing whole machines is usually the wrong response to a load-driven failure pattern: the expensive components are fine, and it is the inexpensive ones that need a replacement schedule. Memory is the one exception worth watching, since sustained high utilisation exposes marginal modules that a lightly loaded machine would never reveal.

Depth rather than single units in exactly these components — power supplies, fans, heatsinks and memory — across Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Cisco and IBM, including generations past OEM end of support. An estate under sustained load needs the same part repeatedly, and we stock to that pattern. We supply these in quantity rather than singly, each unit serial-recorded against the order, with one to three years of warranty.

We match every part to the installed build from the serial and ship from our Cairo warehouse by express courier, with the expected window confirmed per consignment.
