A General Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 8% applies to non-tourism goods on CIF value. The MVR 10,000 duty-free allowance applies to personal and traveler goods only; commercial hardware imports are subject to standard duty and GST on the full CIF value, and customs declarations must be filed electronically before arrival.
