One organisation, several estates

An Indonesian enterprise with national reach does not run one data centre estate. It runs several, separated by sea, built at different times, commissioned by whichever integrator won that year, and connected by links that vary considerably in quality between the primary metropolitan sites and everywhere else. On paper it is a single infrastructure budget. In practice it is a collection of estates that share an owner and very little else.

The model name is not the configuration

This is where multi-site spares planning usually goes wrong. Two servers described by the same model name, bought three years apart through different channels, can carry different processor generations, different memory features, different backplane options and different firmware histories. A RAID controller or drive carrier that drops into one will be rejected by the other. A spares pool built by counting model names produces parts that arrive at site and cannot be fitted — which, when the site is a domestic flight away, converts a two-hour repair into a week.

ICD matches parts to the exact generation, configuration and where relevant firmware level, and serial-verifies before dispatch. For a distributed estate that is not a refinement; it is the difference between a spares strategy and an expensive collection of nearly-right components.

Data residency keeps hardware in place

Regulatory expectations around keeping certain categories of data within the country have a practical infrastructure consequence: workloads that might otherwise consolidate into a regional cloud region stay on local hardware instead. That hardware therefore lives longer, matters more, and passes OEM end of support while still carrying regulated production. Supporting it properly is not a preference in that situation — it is the only available option.

Delivering to more than one island

A shipment to Indonesia has two legs that matter: the international one into the country, and the domestic one out to whichever site actually needs the part. We handle the first from Cairo by express courier with the documentation prepared in advance, and we plan the second with you, because a component that lands in the capital and then waits three days for a connection has not really arrived. Quotes are issued in US dollars against the exact generation at the destination site.
