Who we are
Since 2005, ICD has supplied enterprise servers, storage, networking parts and data centre maintenance to businesses in Egypt, the Gulf, Africa and beyond.
Why this role matters
Enterprise parts cross several borders before they reach a customer, and a single error in a customs file can hold a shipment for days. This specialist makes sure every import and export is documented correctly and cleared without delay.
What you will do
- Prepare and check import and export documents: commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, airway bills and permits.
- Classify server, storage and networking parts under the correct HS codes and keep a classification reference.
- Coordinate customs clearance with brokers and forwarders in Egypt and with ICD's branches in Dubai and Nairobi.
- Arrange any required approvals for IT and telecom equipment, including dual-use or encryption-related items, with the compliance team.
- Calculate and arrange payment of duties and taxes with finance, and file clearance records in the ERP.
- Track shipments, resolve holds or inspections quickly and keep sales and operations informed.
- Keep up to date with customs and trade regulations in the markets ICD serves and share changes with the team.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in commerce, business, logistics or a related field.
- At least 3 years in import/export documentation and customs clearance, ideally for electronics or IT equipment.
- Sound knowledge of Egyptian customs procedures, HS classification and Incoterms.
- High accuracy with documents and numbers.
- Ability to work with brokers, forwarders and authorities under time pressure.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of UAE or Kenyan customs procedures.
- Familiarity with export-control rules for IT and encryption items.
- A recognised customs or international trade certificate.
- Experience with ERPNext or a similar ERP.
