Since 2005, ICD has supplied enterprise servers, storage, networking parts and data centre maintenance to businesses in Egypt, the Gulf, Africa and beyond.
Why this role matters
A part that is genuine but wrong for the customer's server is still a failed delivery. The Service Center Engineer confirms that each part fits the customer's exact system before it ships, saving customers downtime and repeat orders.
What you will do
- Check each ordered part against the customer's server or storage model, generation and configuration using OEM part lists and compatibility matrices.
- Confirm equivalent and replacement part numbers (FRU, spare and option numbers) for Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Cisco, IBM and NetApp systems.
- Verify firmware compatibility for drives, RAID controllers, NICs and HBAs, and flag any update the customer will need.
- Assemble and configure servers or upgrade kits when required, including RAID and BIOS settings.
- Support presales and customer service with technical answers on compatibility and fit.
- Record checks, configurations and serial numbers in the ERP and keep the compatibility knowledge base current.
- Work with the Hardware Test Engineer on failures and with procurement on supplier RMAs.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in computer, electronics or communications engineering, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2-3 years with enterprise servers and storage in a service centre, data centre or reseller.
- Strong knowledge of server generations, memory types, drive interfaces (SAS, SATA, NVMe) and RAID.
- Skill in using OEM support sites, parts lists and QuickSpecs-style documentation.
- Accurate, methodical and comfortable explaining technical points clearly.
Nice to have
- CompTIA Server+ or Storage+ certification.
- Dell, HPE or Lenovo server certifications.
- Experience with NetApp or Cisco UCS platforms.
- Experience with ERPNext or a similar ERP.
Languages
Fluent Arabic and professional English, spoken and written; French is an advantage.
Travel
Office based; occasional local travel only.
