Who we are
Since 2005, ICD has supplied enterprise servers, storage, networking parts and data centre maintenance to businesses in Egypt, the Gulf, Africa and beyond.
Why this role matters
When a customer's server or storage system fails, the field engineer is the person who restores it on site, often against a contracted response time. This role is the face of ICD's third-party maintenance and professional services inside customer data centres.
What you will do
- Install, replace and upgrade server, storage and networking parts at customer sites, including drives, memory, CPUs, PSUs, controllers and system boards.
- Diagnose hardware faults using iDRAC, iLO, XClarity, system logs and vendor diagnostics, and confirm the fix with the customer.
- Rebuild RAID arrays, update firmware and BIOS, and restore configuration safely during agreed maintenance windows.
- Rack, cable and commission new servers and storage systems to the customer's standards.
- Follow data centre access, change-management and safety rules at every site.
- Record every visit, part used and serial number in the service ticket and the ERP, and return faulty parts for RMA.
- Escalate complex issues to the service desk and senior engineers, and share field findings to improve spares planning.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in computer, electronics or communications engineering, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of field or data centre support for enterprise servers and storage.
- Hands-on experience with Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant and/or Lenovo ThinkSystem hardware.
- Solid knowledge of RAID, firmware management and basic Linux, Windows Server and VMware ESXi operations.
- Professional, calm customer manner in critical situations.
- Valid driving licence where required for the location.
Nice to have
- CompTIA Server+ certification.
- Dell, HPE or Lenovo server and storage certifications.
- Experience with NetApp, Cisco UCS or IBM Power systems.
- ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
