The value of managing servers by profile is that a node is defined centrally and any physical unit can be made to fit that definition. Replace a failed blade, associate the profile, and the new hardware becomes the old server. That conformance is the feature. It also means every aspect of the node covered by the profile is set to what the profile says, including local disk handling.

Anything held locally that the profile does not describe has no standing in this model. If a node accumulated local data over years, and nobody recorded that in the profile or anywhere else, the profile is not aware of it and will not preserve it.
