UCS decommissioning at 1U scale
1U UCS estates often include several C220 M5 servers per FI (Fabric Interconnect) domain. The migration typically unwinds whole UCS domains at once rather than server-by-server — service profile dependencies make partial migrations operationally awkward. Plan the cutover as a domain-level project.
Network rework
UCS fabric mode uses Cisco VICs providing converged 25/40/100G networking with service-profile-driven VLAN policy. Moving to standalone R650 with Intel X710 or Broadcom NICs is a real network architecture simplification — plan the switching-side changes (ACI policy removal or migration to standard VLAN trunking) as a paired work stream.
