Optane SSD P5800X works in any NVMe-capable U.2 backplane. Optane DCPMM (Persistent Memory) is ONLY supported on specific Xeon Scalable Gen2/Gen3 (Cascade Lake / Ice Lake) — NOT on Gen1 or Gen4+. After Intel cancellation in 2022, no successor products.

Best-in-class write-intensive endurance (100 DWPD vs NAND's 1-10 DWPD) for cache-tier roles. Production-only sourcing now — Intel cancelled future development. Customers migrating to Solidigm D7-PS1010 NVMe Gen5 or CXL-attached memory tiers.
