IBM 3588-F8A (IBM TS1080 Tape Drive Model F8A) — LTO Ultrium 8 full-height library tape drive canister for the IBM TS3500 / 3584 Tape Library. 12 TB native / 30 TB compressed (2.5:1) per LTO-8 cartridge, up to 360 MB/s native data transfer rate, 1 GB internal data buffer, dual-ported 8 Gb Fibre Channel (multi-mode) host interface for direct or SAN attachment to open-systems servers. Encryption-capable (LTO-8 / Ultrium 7 media, AES-256), supports media partitioning and LTFS / IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition self-describing tape. Installs in TS3500 LTO frames — models L53, D53, L52 and D52 — and requires the LTO Fibre Drive Mounting Kit feature (#1514 for L53/D53, #1504 for L52/D52) in the target drive slot; also supported in TS4500 frames EXCEPT HD2 frames. Media support: reads and writes LTO-8 (12 TB) and LTO-7 (6 TB), plus LTO Type M / M8 (9 TB on an unused LTO-7 cartridge, requires LTO-8 drive firmware HB82 or later and current library firmware); LTO-8 drives do NOT read LTO-6 or earlier media.
