End of Sale Is Not End of Support, and the Gap Is Where Saudi Budgets Live
Cisco publishes a lifecycle with several distinct milestones, and they are routinely conflated in procurement conversations. End of sale simply means Cisco stops selling it. Last day of support is typically around five years later. Between those two dates sits a long window in which a Saudi institution is told its equipment is obsolete when in fact it remains fully serviceable and, for several more years, still supportable.
What that window is worth
For an organisation with UCS deployed across Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, that gap is often the difference between a refresh this fiscal year and a refresh in three. It is not a delaying tactic; it is reading the vendor's own lifecycle correctly. ICD's role begins at the far end of it, when last day of support has genuinely passed and the parts have to come from somewhere else.
After the last day of support
The estate does not change on that date. What changes is that Cisco TAC will not take the call and the parts entitlement ends. Third-party maintenance and a sourced spares route keep a UCS domain running, and for the fabric interconnect layer in particular a held spare is worth more than any contract, because that is the component whose failure takes the domain rather than a server.
Delivery into the Kingdom
Three to four days from Cairo to Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam per our published shipping times, with documentation prepared for SASO requirements and consignee-of-record handled Saudi-side; customs clearance can add one to three days.
