The HPE P44217-B21 is the MR408i-o RAID controller for HPE ProLiant Gen11 servers — a fundamental shift in HPE’s storage controller architecture. Gen11 moves from the traditional Smart Array family to a Broadcom-based MegaRAID design (the ‘MR’ prefix). The MR408i-o supports Tri-Mode operation: SAS, SATA, and NVMe drives behind a single controller. With 8GB flash-backed cache and four internal SAS/SATA ports plus NVMe support, it is the Gen11 successor to the P408i-a.
