Data Center Decommissioning Services
Full-scope facility decommission including removal, data destruction, and asset remarketing.
ICD Group provides complete data center decommissioning services for organizations relocating, consolidating, or shutting down data center facilities. Our decommissioning team handles every phase from pre-project planning through physical removal, secure data destruction, asset remarketing, and facility handback. With combined expertise from ICD (enterprise hardware) and EKODAQ (ITAD and data destruction), we deliver a single-vendor solution that eliminates the coordination overhead of managing multiple contractors.
Whether you are decommissioning a single cabinet, a colocation suite, or an entire purpose-built facility, ICD scales our resources to match the project scope. Our teams have executed decommission projects across Egypt and the Gulf region for enterprises, financial institutions, government agencies, and telecommunications providers where security, documentation, and timeline adherence are critical requirements.
Decommissioning Scope
- Pre-project assessment and planning including complete asset inventory, dependency mapping, risk identification, timeline development, and stakeholder communication planning
- Systematic hardware removal following a structured sequence that respects application dependencies, with labeled cabling documentation and careful handling of enterprise equipment to preserve remarketing value
- Certified data destruction performed on-site before any equipment leaves your facility, using EKODAQ processes compliant with NIST 800-88, with individual certificates of destruction for every storage device
- Asset remarketing and value recovery through ICD Group global channels, offsetting decommission costs and frequently turning the project from a pure expense into a revenue-generating event
- Facility restoration including cable removal, floor tile replacement, and cleanup to meet lease return conditions
Decommission Project Phases
- Planning Phase: ICD project managers work with your IT and facilities teams to create a detailed decommission plan covering scope, timeline, security protocols, and logistical requirements. Every asset is inventoried and assigned a disposition path.
- Data Destruction Phase: Before any equipment is disconnected, all storage media is sanitized or physically destroyed on-site by EKODAQ technicians. This phase produces the compliance documentation your auditors require.
- Removal Phase: Equipment is systematically disconnected, removed from cabinets, palletized, and transported to our processing facility or directly to remarketing channels. Power and network cabling is removed and disposed of responsibly.
- Closeout Phase: ICD delivers a comprehensive project report including asset disposition records, data destruction certificates, value recovery settlement, and facility condition documentation.
