Standardising Lenovo Spares Across Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam
The distinctive feature of a large Saudi Lenovo estate is not its age, it is its geography. The same organisation runs racks in Riyadh, a disaster-recovery site in Jeddah and a plant or branch estate in Dammam, procured in different years by different teams. The result is three subtly different ThinkSystem populations, and a spares strategy that only works in one of them.
Three sites, three part lists
SR650 bought in 2018 does not take the same drive tray as SR650 bought in 2021. RAID 930 gives way to 940. Memory populations differ by CPU generation. When a site holds spares that suit its neighbour rather than itself, the shelf looks healthy and the swap still fails. ICD begins by reconciling what is actually installed per site, then defines a spares set for each, which is usually cheaper in total than the mismatched stock already held.
Delivery to all three cities
Three to four days from Cairo to Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam per our published shipping times, with documentation prepared for SASO requirements and consignee-of-record handled Saudi-side. Customs clearance can add one to three days. Where a customer wants a single delivery split across sites we consolidate the shipment and label per destination.
Support that survives the programme, not the contract
Saudi programmes are funded in phases across several years, and phase-one hardware routinely reaches end of support before the final phase is delivered. Third-party maintenance over the existing estate keeps the risk register clean without an unplanned capital request mid-programme.

ThinkSystem RAID 930 and 940 with cache and battery modules, DDR4 RDIMM and LRDIMM matched by CPU generation, SAS and NVMe drives in the correct tray, redundant PSUs, fans and rails, plus ServeRAID M5210 where legacy System x remains. Tested and serial-verified, one to three years of warranty.
