Common Slot vs Flex Slot PSU interchange on Gen9 to Gen10 upgrades
HPE’s PSU form factors changed quietly between ProLiant generations and catch upgrade projects by surprise. Gen8 used Common Slot (CS) PSUs. Gen9 introduced Flex Slot (FS) on DL360/DL380 Gen9 as a wider, slightly deeper module with different connector keying. Gen10 and Gen10 Plus refined Flex Slot further but stayed mechanically compatible within generations. The practical consequence: a pair of 800W FS PSUs from a DL380 Gen9 will drop cleanly into a DL380 Gen10 chassis; CS units from a Gen8 will not. Wattage mixing within a chassis is allowed only if both PSUs are the same wattage — HPE iLO will refuse to run in redundant mode with mismatched-wattage pairs and will raise a persistent health event. Tape and storage PSUs (MSL3040 300W 882192-001, MSL6480 723572-001, ESL G3 1500W) are entirely separate families from server PSUs — not interchangeable. Before any Gen9 to Gen10 migration, audit the PSU PN on each node and reconcile against the target chassis compatibility matrix.

Since 01-Jan-2025 ZATCA and SASO enforce the full Saleem rules — every shipment line item needs a registered Product Conformity Certificate (PCoC) plus Shipment Conformity Certificate (SCoC), and the old “undertaking” grace path is closed. ICD operates through a pre-registered IOR in Riyadh with SABER product lines mapped for the top HPE SKU families, so the per-shipment SABER fee (SAR 400-800 per product line) is a known cost, not a surprise hold. FASAH single-window handles the customs entry; CITC clearance is auto-generated for non-RF items. 15% VAT applies on CIF plus duty at port of entry, invoiced by ZATCA. Arabic-language commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin are mandatory.
