Dell SSD in Egypt
Flash is where Egyptian enterprise workloads live now — databases, VDI, analytics and virtualisation all demand the predictable low latency that only solid-state media delivers. ICD stocks genuine Dell EMC SSDs at our Maadi, Cairo headquarters and ships them across Egypt with the firmware revisions and carrier types your PowerEdge platform expects.
Endurance class: the decision that matters most
Before part numbers, get the endurance tier right. Dell grades SSDs by Drive Writes Per Day (DWPD): Read-Intensive (RI, ~1 DWPD) for boot volumes, web tiers and read-heavy databases; Mixed-Use (MU, ~3 DWPD) for transactional databases, virtualisation and logging; and Write-Intensive (WI, ~10 DWPD) for caching and the most write-saturated OLTP. Specifying an RI drive into a heavy-write role shortens its service life dramatically — and over-buying WI where RI suffices wastes budget. Tell us the workload and we map it to the right class.
Dell SSDs currently on our Cairo shelf
| Dell Part | Capacity | Class | Interface / FF | Best-fit role |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 400-AMDI | 960 GB | RI | 12G SAS / 2.5″ | Boot, read-heavy DB |
| 401-AAZT | 1.6 TB | MU | 12G SAS / 2.5″ | VM datastore, OLTP |
| 345-BDOM | 1.92 TB | MU | 6G SATA / 2.5″ | General virtualisation |
| 400-BDNX | 3.84 TB | RI | 6G SATA / 3.5″ | Capacity flash tier |
For dense VM datastores the 401-AAZT 1.6 TB Mixed-Use SAS gives sustained write headroom, while read-dominant clusters do well on the 400-AMDI 960 GB RI. Need 3.5″ LFF flash for a legacy backplane? The 400-BDNX 3.84 TB drops straight into an F238F carrier.
Interface, boot and the BOSS card
SAS SSDs (12G) deliver dual-port resilience and higher queue depth for clustered storage; SATA SSDs (6G) are cost-effective for boot and general datastores. For the operating-system boot mirror specifically, modern PowerEdge servers favour the BOSS (Boot Optimised Storage Subsystem) card with M.2 drives, freeing your front bays for data SSDs — ask us to quote a BOSS-S1/S2 alongside your data flash. As with mechanical media, the carrier generation (DXD9H, G176J, X7K8W) must match the chassis.
Egypt sourcing advantage
Operating from Cairo, ICD keeps Dell flash in local stock so your refresh or expansion does not wait on an overseas shipment and customs queue. We serve banking, telecom and government data-centre projects across the New Administrative Capital and Smart Village, where matched, firmware-consistent SSD batches are essential for array stability.
