Mixed DWPD Endurance in One RAID Group — a Quiet Failure Mode
PERC H740 and H755 will let you build a RAID-10 across a mix of 1-DWPD read-intensive and 3-DWPD mixed-use SSDs. It will post; it will run. What it will also do is invisibly clock the write-cache policy down to the lowest common denominator endurance, which means a year later the read-intensive members hit their wear threshold first and the array starts throwing predictive failure alerts at random. Dell’s PowerEdge storage best-practice document (H18396 series) is explicit: do not mix DWPD classes inside one virtual disk. We ship SSDs in DWPD-matched pairs and flag any quote that would put 1-DWPD and 3-DWPD members in the same RAID group.
ME5024 and ME4024 SAS SSD Stock
Dell’s PowerVault ME5024 supports 960GB RI, 1.6TB MU, 1.92TB, 3.84TB MU, 3.84TB FIPS and 7.68TB RI SAS SSDs. We carry the current ME5024 SKUs plus their ME4024 predecessors for the 2020-2022 installed base in Egyptian banks and hospitals. Firmware is pre-flashed to the customer’s current ME5 release before dispatch — no 4-hour baseline firmware dance on arrival.
