Dell RAID Controllers in Nigeria
The PERC controller decides whether a Dell server’s storage is fast, resilient and recoverable after a fault. ICD supplies genuine Dell PowerEdge RAID controllers and SAS HBAs into Nigeria — matched to the right generation, cache and backplane — for the PowerEdge fleets in Lagos and Abuja colocation facilities such as Rack Centre, MainOne and Equinix.
Data protection where power is variable
In environments with frequent utility-to-generator transitions, a cached RAID controller without a healthy battery/BBU or supercapacitor is a liability — an abrupt power loss can drop unwritten cache and corrupt a volume. So two things matter most in Nigeria: confirm the cache-protection module is healthy on any cached PERC, and prefer RAID 6 on large nearline arrays so the array survives a second drive failure during a long rebuild. These choices, plus genuine media, are what keep data intact through power events.
| Dell Part | Controller | Cache | Generation / role |
|---|---|---|---|
| NGM2T | PERC H330 Mini | None | Entry RAID / HBA |
| XX5JC | PERC H710P | 1 GB | Gen12 cached RAID |
| 5FMY4 | PERC H740P Mini | 8 GB | Gen14 hardware RAID |
| 405-AAPN | LSI 9361-8i (12G) | 1 GB | Broad RAID/HBA |
Gen14 cached arrays run the 5FMY4 PERC H740P 8 GB; Gen12 R620/R720 hosts the XX5JC PERC H710P 1 GB; and entry or software-defined deployments the NGM2T PERC H330 in HBA mode.
PERC generations and form factors
The PERC line maps to PowerEdge: H330 entry; H730/H730P (Gen13) and H740P (Gen14) with 2-8 GB cache; H750/H755 (Gen15) for 12G/16G and NVMe-aware arrays; legacy H700/H710/H810 for R610/R710-era hosts. The card must fit both the chassis form factor (Mini Mono vs full-height adapter) and the performance target — an entry H330 cannot deliver write-back caching, and a legacy card has no place in a modern chassis.
Hardware RAID or HBA pass-through
Software-defined storage (vSAN, Storage Spaces Direct, ZFS) needs the controller in HBA / pass-through mode so the host sees raw disks — the H330 and 9361-class cards handle this cleanly. Traditional in-card volumes (RAID 1/5/6/10) want a cached PERC. Settle the storage architecture first, then choose the controller.
Sourcing in Nigeria
ICD delivers PERC controllers and matching SAS backplane cables into Nigeria via Lagos port, supporting rebuilds and fleet standardisation across the Lagos and Abuja colocation market with genuine, documented product.
