Dell RAID Controllers in Egypt
The PERC controller is the single component that decides whether your Dell server’s storage is fast, resilient and recoverable — or a single point of failure. ICD supplies genuine Dell PERC RAID controllers and SAS HBAs from our Cairo (Maadi) headquarters, matched to the correct PowerEdge generation, cache size and backplane.
PERC generations and where they belong
Dell’s PowerEdge RAID Controller line tracks server generations closely. The H330 is the entry RAID/HBA-capable card; the H730/H730P (Gen13) and H740P (Gen14) add 2-8 GB of cache for write-back acceleration; the H750 (Gen15) and H755 bring 12G/16G performance and NVMe awareness; legacy H700/H710/H810 serve older R610/R710-era platforms. Putting an H810 in a modern R650, or expecting an H330 to deliver write-back caching, are the two most common mistakes — the card must suit both the chassis and the performance target.
| Dell Part | Controller | Cache | Generation fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| NGM2T | PERC H330 Mini Mono | None (HBA/RAID) | Gen13 entry |
| 5FMY4 | PERC H740P Mini | 8 GB | Gen14 (R640/R740) |
| K883J | PERC H700 | 512 MB | Gen11/12 legacy |
| 405-AAPN | LSI 9361-8i (12G) | 1 GB | HBA/RAID, broad |
For cache-accelerated Gen14 arrays the 5FMY4 PERC H740P with 8 GB delivers strong write-back performance, while entry deployments and pass-through (HBA mode) needs are met by the NGM2T PERC H330. Legacy R710-era hosts still rely on the K883J PERC H700 512 MB.
RAID modes and the HBA distinction
Choose the RAID level by your priority: RAID 1 (mirror) for OS volumes; RAID 5 for capacity-efficient redundancy on read-heavy data; RAID 6 for large nearline arrays where a second drive may fail during a long rebuild; RAID 10 for transactional databases needing both speed and resilience. Note that software-defined storage (vSAN, Storage Spaces, ZFS) wants the controller in HBA / pass-through mode, not hardware RAID — the H330 and 9361-class cards support this, the cached PERCs are designed for hardware RAID. Cache also implies a battery/BBU or supercap to protect in-flight writes during power loss, which matters in Egypt’s grid environment.
Egypt sourcing
From Cairo, ICD ships PERC controllers and the matching SAS backplane cables across Egypt, with local import handling so an upgrade or replacement does not wait on overseas logistics. Data-centre integrators in the New Capital and Smart Village source matched controllers from us when rebuilding or standardising fleets.
