Sizing for the load, not the chassis

Dell PSUs come in standard ratings — 495W, 750W, 1100W, 1400W, 1570W and above — and the correct figure follows the actual configuration: CPU TDP, DIMM count, GPU accelerators and full drive population. A modest 1U may run on 495-750W; a dual-Xeon GPU node needs 1100W+ for headroom and redundancy. Undersizing causes throttling or POST failure under load; a small margin buys efficiency and future capacity. Note that some high-wattage units (1570W/1600W) derate on 110-120V input, so verify your rack PDU voltage.
