Dell PSU in Egypt
A failed power supply takes a server offline instantly — and in Egypt’s grid conditions, redundant, correctly-rated PSUs are not optional. ICD stocks genuine Dell PowerEdge power supplies at our Cairo (Maadi) headquarters, with the wattage classes, efficiency grades and hot-plug carriers that match your chassis exactly.
Sizing the wattage right
Dell PowerEdge PSUs cluster around standard ratings — 495W, 750W, 1100W, 1400W and 1570W+ — and the correct figure depends on CPU TDP, DIMM count, GPU load and drive population, not on the chassis alone. A lightly-configured 1U may run comfortably on 495W; a GPU-accelerated 2U with dual high-core Xeons needs 1100W or more for headroom and redundancy. Undersize it and the server throttles or fails to POST under load; oversize it modestly and you gain efficiency margin and future-proofing.
| Dell Part | Wattage | Efficiency | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| 02FR04 | 495W | 80+ Platinum | Hot-plug EPP |
| V1YJ6 | 750W | 80+ | Hot-swap |
| GYH9V | 1100W | 80+ Platinum | Hot-swap |
| 685W7 | 1600W | 80+ Platinum EPP | Redundant RPSU |
For efficiency-sensitive 1U nodes the 02FR04 495W Platinum minimises waste heat, while dense 2U and GPU builds lean on the GYH9V 1100W Platinum. The general-purpose V1YJ6 750W remains the most common workhorse across the R-series fleet.
Hot-plug redundancy and the 1+1 model
Production servers should always run dual PSUs in a 1+1 redundant configuration — each unit feeds from a separate PDU/UPS feed, so the loss of one supply or one circuit never drops the host. Dell’s hot-plug design lets you replace a failed unit without powering down. Critically, both PSUs in a chassis must be the same wattage and revision; mixing a 750W with a 1100W unit disables redundancy and triggers a fault. The 80 Plus efficiency grade (Platinum/Titanium) also matters in Egypt, where every watt of conversion loss becomes cooling load and electricity cost.
Egypt supply and continuity
Power components are exactly where local stock pays off — a dead PSU is an emergency. ICD holds Dell PowerEdge supplies in Cairo so a redundant unit reaches your Greater Cairo, Alexandria or New Capital site quickly, with import and documentation handled in-house rather than waiting on an overseas RMA.
