Cisco SSD in Egypt
Flash is now the default tier for transactional and latency-sensitive workloads on Cisco UCS, and the SSD you choose — boot, capacity-value, performance-mixed-use, or extreme NVMe — has to match both the role and the controller. Egyptian operators standardising their UCS estates need the right Cisco-branded drive by exact PID, not a generic SSD the platform may not validate. ICD stocks genuine Cisco SSDs from its Cairo base, so an upgrade or replacement in a Smart Village, Maadi or New Administrative Capital facility seats and reports cleanly under CIMC.
Cisco SSDs in stock
The catalogue runs from M.2 SATA boot drives through SATA/SAS enterprise-value and enterprise-performance SSDs to U.2/U.3 NVMe. Common movers include the Cisco 960GB SATA 6Gb/s 2.5″ Enterprise Value SSD for read-centric pools and the Cisco 960GB 2.5″ Enterprise Performance 12Gb/s SAS SSD at 3 DWPD for write-heavier roles.
| PID | Capacity | Interface / class | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| SD960GBKS4-EV | 960GB | SATA 6G / Enterprise Value | Read-intensive pools |
| SD960GIS3-EP | 960GB | SAS 12G / Perf 3 DWPD | Mixed-use volumes |
| M2-I480GB-D | 480GB | M.2 SATA / boot | Boot-optimised mirror |
| NVMEI4-I1600 | 1.6TB | U.2 NVMe / high perf | Low-latency NVMe |
DWPD endurance and the boot-vs-capacity split
The number that should drive SSD selection is DWPD — drive writes per day, the endurance rating. An Enterprise Value SSD (around 1 DWPD) is built for read-intensive and moderate-write workloads at the best cost-per-GB; an Enterprise Performance drive (3 DWPD and up) is built to absorb sustained writes — databases, logging, caching — without wearing out early. Putting a value drive under a heavy-write database shortens its life; over-spending on a high-DWPD part for a read-mostly archive wastes budget. Separately, do not boot from your data SSDs: Cisco’s M.2 SATA boot drives, mirrored on the M.2 RAID controller, isolate the OS so a data-pool rebuild never threatens the boot volume. For the lowest latency, U.2/U.3 NVMe outpaces SAS/SATA but needs a tri-mode controller or NVMe-capable bays.
