Cisco Support in Kuwait After End of Life
Moving a UCS estate into colocation strips it of the building it was designed around. ICD supports Cisco fabric and compute through that move and after Cisco withdraws it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Migration and colocation questions from operators in Kuwait.
Cisco End-of-Life Support in Kuwait
Kuwait City is acquiring serious colocation capacity. Large regional operators are building multiple facilities, international providers have entered, and organisations that have run their own server rooms for a decade are being offered a credible alternative for the first time. Many will take it. What that decision involves, for anyone running a Cisco UCS estate, is considerably more than moving equipment between buildings.
An estate adapts to its building without anyone noticing
Hardware that has lived in the same room for years has been accommodated by it. Power distribution grew around the racks rather than the racks conforming to a standard. Cable runs took the path that was available. Cooling behaviour was tuned by trial and error until the hot spots stopped complaining. Rack depth, PDU placement and airflow direction were whatever the room offered. None of this was designed; all of it works. A colocation facility replaces every one of those accommodations with a defined envelope — specified power per rack, specified depth, specified airflow containment — and each accommodation that was invisible becomes a requirement that has to be met explicitly.
A migration power-cycles everything at once
This is the part that catches UCS estates specifically. A fabric interconnect pair, a chassis full of blades and their IO modules may have been running continuously for years. Components degrade in place without announcing it, because nothing ever asks them to start again. A migration asks all of them to start again, on the same afternoon, in a different building. Marginal power supplies fail on restart. Fan modules that were noisy become dead. An IO module that had been quietly logging errors stops negotiating. None of these would have been noticed for another year in the old room.
Unsupported hardware makes that a worse day
If the estate is still under Cisco support, migration-day failures are an inconvenience. If the UCS generation has passed end of support, they are a schedule problem with no obvious solution: the rack does not come back up, the part cannot be obtained quickly, and the migration window that was agreed with the business is already spent. The mitigation is unglamorous and effective — identify and hold the components a move most often breaks before the move, not after it.
Arrange clearance before the migration date
Kuwait requires clearance through a locally authorised agent presenting a letter of representation together with a letter from the end user, and spare parts sit under an import licensing regime. Sorted out weeks ahead of a migration, that is routine. Discovered on the day a replacement fabric extender is needed, it is the difference between a delayed rack and a delayed programme. ICD supplies tested, serial-verified Cisco UCS and fabric components with one to three years of warranty on a three to four day lane from Cairo.
