4Kn vs 512e — the one that trips people up
The 16 TB HD16T7KL4K is a native 4K (4Kn) drive. On UCS that matters: a 4Kn disk cannot be mixed in the same RAID group as 512e/512n drives, and the service profile’s storage policy has to be 4Kn-aware. If you are extending an existing 512e array, ask us for the 512e capacity SKU instead — we will confirm the exact firmware level your UCSM bundle expects before anything ships.

The 1.8 TB HD18TB10KS4K is a hardware SED — encryption runs on the drive controller, so there is no host CPU penalty and the keys can be managed through UCSM or an external KMIP server.
