Cisco HDD in Egypt
For Egyptian operators running Cisco UCS C-Series and B-Series infrastructure, the spinning disk still carries the bulk-capacity tier — archive, backup repositories, video surveillance and cold object storage where cost-per-terabyte beats flash. ICD stocks genuine Cisco-branded SAS HDDs from its Maadi, Cairo base, so a failed drive in a Smart Village or New Administrative Capital data hall can be matched by exact PID instead of an approximate substitute. Every drive we ship is firmware-keyed to the UCS controller it belongs in, which is what keeps a rebuild from stalling on an “unsupported device” flag.
Cisco SAS HDD models we hold
Cisco’s enterprise drive line spans 10K-RPM 2.5″ SFF performance disks through 7.2K-RPM 3.5″ LFF nearline capacity disks, in both 512e and native 4Kn sector formats. Common movers include the Cisco 1.8TB 12G SAS 10K 2.5 SFF 4Kn HDD for UCS for performance pools and the Cisco 8TB 7.2K 12G SAS 3.5 LFF 4Kn HDD for capacity racks.
| PID | Capacity | Form factor / sector | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| HD18TB10K4KN | 1.8TB 10K | 2.5″ SFF / 4Kn | UCS C220/C240 M5–M6 |
| HD24TB10K4KN | 2.4TB 10K | 2.5″ SFF / 4Kn | UCS C-Series SFF bays |
| HD8T7KL4K | 8TB 7.2K | 3.5″ LFF / 4Kn | UCS C240 LFF / S3260 |
| HD600G15K12N | 600GB 15K | 2.5″ SFF / 512N | Latency-sensitive pools |
4Kn versus 512e — and why it matters at provisioning
The single decision that trips most Egyptian deployments is sector format. Native 4Kn drives expose 4096-byte physical and logical sectors; 512e drives emulate the legacy 512-byte logical sector over a 4K physical one. Mixing the two inside a single RAID group is not supported, and a 4Kn disk will not boot a legacy hypervisor that lacks 4Kn awareness. For new C240 capacity pools we recommend standardising on 4Kn from the start; for drop-in replacement into an existing array, match the format of the disks already present. Where data-at-rest compliance is required, Cisco’s SED (Self-Encrypting Drive) variants pair with the UCS controller’s local key management — note that SED and non-SED disks should not be mixed in one secured volume.
Stocking and import into Egypt
As ICD’s home market, Egypt gets the fastest path: drives held locally clear the on-the-ground import handling our Cairo team runs daily, so there is no waiting on a cross-border consolidation leg. That matters most for a degraded array where a second disk loss means data loss. We serve the Greater Cairo data-centre corridor — Smart Village, Maadi, and the New Administrative Capital build-out — alongside Alexandria and Delta sites, with serial-traceable Cisco stock and warranty-backed parts.
